It’s May Madness at Surfers MAYfair, (I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist).
We’ve got a busy month ahead of us filled with many local events! Firstly, I’d like to welcome you to a more personalised Events Blog where we at Surfers Mayfair will post about any and all upcoming major events that will interest those potentially wanting to visit us on the Gold Coast!
If you’re not here for serene sandy beaches, fantastic forests, thrilling theme parks and exciting nightlife we’ve got a range of events coming up that will allow something for everyone!
Our first major event this May will be close to home, those who have visited the Gold Coast will have surely visited the Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets, a weekly event hosted Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, allowing families, couples and even solo travellers to stroll through over 120 market stalls accompanied by local performers creating a wonderful ambience to the evenings. The evening of Friday the 15th of May however, will be a special one, celebrating 20 years of Markets on the Surfers Paradise beachfront. Make a night of it, there are many local restaurants, entertainment and nightlife venues to suit all. It’s only a 10 minute stroll from Surfers Mayfair and easy to find!
It’s referred to as the biggest free musical event within Australia, the Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival is hosted from the 21st to 24th May. This event features a massive line up this year, complete with Andrew Strong, James Morrison, The Black Sorrows, Charlie Parr and many other various artists spread across six stages. There are enough performances to satisfy any blues enthusiast from the avid fan, to the blues beginner. This fantastic event is extremely well organised (we’ve attended the previous two) and offers all the amenities you’d expect at a major music festival. It’s no more than 10 minutes either way on the G:Link tram (2 minutes walk from Surfers Mayfair), so you don’t even need to find a park!
For those more suited to the ocean life, our two final major events may interest you; The Gold Coast Marine Expo and The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. Both events attracting over 50,000 visitors from across the globe and Australia, it doesn’t matter whether you looking to buy, own 10 boats (or none), it’s definitely worth a look. Both events strongly support domestic and local charities for the more generous types, and there are plenty of exhibits on show with interactive exhibits for the kids (and the grown up kids too), one of the major and somewhat different exhibits this year is the 15th century rare replica of a Portuguese caravel.
Tickets for both events are available online, The Marine Expo are $10 for adults, or $7 for seniors/pensioners, children under 15 enter free. The International Boat Show offers day passes from $25 per adult, $20 for concession passes, all children under 18 enter free.
So there we have it, these are not all the events we have coming this month, for other events, don’t hesitate to have a look around some other events that are happening around the Gold Coast!
