Watch Don Quixote be performed live by the Imperial Russian Ballet Company.

The story of Don Quixote is about a retired man who travels Spain’s roads looking for a grand adventure. He is accompanied by a labourer named Sancho Panza – his faithful squire.

Don Quixote promises to make Sancho a wealthy governor. Don Quixote then gives up shelter, food and all comforts for a peasant woman named Dulcinea del Toboso whom he considers a princess.

It was in 1869 when Don Quixote was first performed in the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Since then, the story has similarly traveled the world and performed by numerous international ballet companies.

The Imperial Russian Ballet Company will be presenting this flamboyant story to Australia this 2014.

Formed in 1994 by the Bolshoi Theatre soloist Gediminas Taranda, the Imperial Russian Ballet have staged classic masterpieces in the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall as well as the Mossovet Theatre. Their current home in Moscow is the Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre.

They will be performing Don Quixote on April 11 to 12, 2014 at The Arts Centre Gold Coast, 135 Bundall Road, Gold Coast. The venue is a quick drive from our Surfers Paradise Holiday Accommodation.
